The Museum of Cold is an exhibition space that explores the relationship between cold climate and artistic expression, spotlighting works born from or shaped by cold. The project showcases pieces that reflect both the hardship and majesty of winter. From arcane depictions of snow-drift landscapes to contemporary installation artists working with cold-weather symbolism and the psychology of isolation, the MoC offers a multisensory archive of how artists respond to, endure, and transform cold into creation. Central to the project are site-specific installations—some preserved while others left to thaw out in real time—highlighting the temporal fragility of cold-formed aesthetics.

In an era marked by the increase in extreme weather events, the MoC offers an important space for reflection and dialogue. Extreme climates are no longer abstract phenomena; they shape our lives, our environments, and our collective imagination. At the same time, contemporary artists navigate economic pressures, resource scarcity, and the ever-accelerating pace of cultural production. The MoC foregrounds these tensions, highlighting how the material constraints and conceptual provocations of cold can act as impulse towards innovation and can even have an exalting effect on the spirit.
